Our presentation went really well and all the groups had really good interviews and digital books. All the parents, guests, students and teachers were very pleased with what they did and they said they will be looking forwards to next year’s class presentations.
This is my last blog entry. I liked writing my blog as it gave me time to reflect on what was happening as well as the seriousness of stereotyping, harassment and discrimination.

Week 8 (13/6/07)
We fixed up and made our book all good and proper today. It was exciting to see it all play by itself when we tested it. I felt proud when it was all working well cause we really did work hard to make it all work.

Week 8 (12/6/07)
We learnt how to record our voices on the microphones on the computer today and we recorded our own voices reading out the story. We let Sally and Dean have the most talking slides at they are the best readers. I thought inserting the sound into the PowerPoint would be hard but it was just as easy as inserting pictures which was good.

Week 8 (11/6/07)
We finished our interview today and added a credits page at the end. I was really happy how well we worked as a group throughout this task and each of us was good at something someone else was not good at so we were able to help each other. If we do another task like this I think it would be good to have the same team back.

Week 7 (8/6/07)
We started to edit our interview today. It was hard editing film in the start but once we got going we got better at it. Sally was good with the editing and we all worked great as a team.

Week 7 (7/6/07)
In today’s lesson we watched what we had filmed of our interview. Wong was a bit wobbly on the camera but he did a good job overall. There were several parts of the interview that we decided we needed to get rid of because we made a mistake reading the questions or when Elder Darcy has a sneezing fit.
Jimmy
Jimmy
Week 7 (6/6/07)
We interviewed Elder Darcy today and the stories he told us about discrimination were really sad. He was a great guest who helped me understand what discrimination was better. Our interview worked out good and our questions was good to.

Week 7 (5/6/07)
We started to insert all our pictures we took of our group acting from last week. They looked good except I was blinking in one of the photos. We all worked well with each of us taking turns in doing stuff.

Week 7 (4/6/07)
Mr Wigan handed back our interview drafts today and we did pretty good but he gave us some really good advice. As a class we readed each other our interviews and discussed what acceptable interview techniques, expectations and professionalism. After this talk we had time to go back and make some changes which was really useful.

Week 6 (1/6/07)
Today both Lilly and Sally were away as all the girls had to go and meet in the hall for a talk so it was up to me, Dean and Wong to finish the script. We all worked really well and hard and got it all done. I am really happy with what our script looks like.

Week 6 (31/5/07)
We continued writing our interview script today. We needed a little help from Mr Wigan when we got stuck working out how to ask sensitive questions. We ended up doing most of the questions today and tomorrow we just have to fix it all and make it good.

Week 6 (30/5/07)
We were told who we were going to be interviewing in our groups today. We will be interviewing elder Darcy from an aboriginal tribe who has often been discriminated against. So our group started writing questions and Sally was a big help again. Dean behaved today and was actually a big help when he was paying attention.

Week 6 (29/5/07)
We actually started to create our digital book today! After all this work we are starting to do the fun stuff. We chose a blue and black background and created our title page. Sally was really good at typing and using powerpoint so we got everything done fast. Dean is getting really annoying cause he won’t help. I am going to tell Mr Wigan if Dean keeps not helping.
Jimmy
Jimmy
Week 6 (28/5/07)
Our group today started to work out what we wanted on each page and what picture we would need. Lilly had some great ideas of what we should be doing in the photos. Dean was not much help this lesson cause he kept mucking around with a different group.

Week 5 (23/5/07)
I went to the last 2 workshops today. They were really interesting as they had to do with film which I had no knowledge about before now. Lucky I have my cheat sheet for when I need to use film in a couple of weeks.

We had the computer lesson today and we were working at workstations learning different technological stuff that we need to know to use in a couple of weeks. Week 4 (18/5/07)
I finished typing my story up right before the bell today. I was happy I finally finished cause I think I was the only one still going up until the bell.
Jimmy

Week 4 (17/5/07)
We talked about how certain jobs stereotype people based on their gender. Like how a nurse is normally considered to be a girl and a fireman is normally a man. That is what stereotyping is.
Jimmy
Jimmy
Week 4 (16/5/07)
We talked about and read a book today in class. It showed how the main girl felt belonged and had a sense of belonging. We discussed how it feels to feel belonged and how we would feel if we lost that. I found that really interesting.

Week 4 (15/5/07)
Today we watched all different interviews in class. There were sports interviews, news interviews and film interview. I was amazed at how different each interview was to each other. I liked the normal news interview the best cause it was more formal.

Week 4 (14/5/07)
Today we had to write questions as if we were reporters talking to Danny or Sally from Grease. I worked with Wong, Michael and Lilly today and we made a list of 15 questions when other groups only made 5. I think our questions were really good and Wong had some great ideas for questions.

Week 3 (11/5/07)
Today we just typed up our story books. This was boring cause I’m not a good typer so it is taking me a while to finish typing up my story.
Jimmy
Jimmy
Week 3 (10/5/07)
In groups today we made little plays that showed values, attitudes and beliefs of stereotyped people. My group did really. I had Dorothy, Michael and Dean in my group. We worked well together even though Michael was a bit shy to act in front of the class.

Week 3 (9/5/07)
I was still sick today so I missed out on the swimming carnival. I felt sad because I was really looking forward to swimming in the backstroke race.

Week 3 (7/5/07)
I finished writing my storybook today. I thought it was really cool and Wong really liked it when he read it in class. I think my story was a really good example of discrimination and I hope Mr Wigan likes it.

Week 2 (4/5/07)
Today we were in the computer room and were working on the computers which is my favourite thing in school to do. I was working with Sally and Wong and we created a whole poster to do with sense of belonging. Our poster looks really good and it hanging up in the classroom for everyone to see.

Week 2 (3/5/07)
I wrote a lot of my story today. It is starting to get really interesting. The teacher of the ballet school is called Miss Morrison and she is discriminating against Timmy because he is a male and wants to be a ballet dancer. At the end of the story Jimmy does a really great dance and Miss Morrison decides to let Timmy join the class because he is really good.

Week 2 (2/5/07)
Today I started to write my story. I chose discrimination as I have experienced this when I go to ballet and the girls say I can not be good at ballet because I’m a boy so I’m going to write a story about that. My main characters name is Timmy and he wants to join ballet but the class won’t let him because he’s a boy. I am looking forward to writing the whole story soon.

Week 2 (1/5/07)
Today we had to write two diary entries as a character off Grease. I wrote as Danny. The first one I wrote how Danny was feeling sad that his friends weren’t accepting him when he was with Sandy. The second one I wrote how he was really happy that he belonged when Sandy changed in the end. I was really happy I got to read my second reflection to the class. Mr Wigan said I was spot on with my reflection and the class gave me a clap.

Week 2 (30/4/07)
I really liked watching Grease in our lesson today. It was fun trying to find all the different stereotypes and representations of people in the movie. I never noticed any of that type of stuff before when I watched Grease. It was weird to see that all the guys wore the black jackets and loved their cars because I never wear those types of jackets and I hate cars and I’m a guy. I guess that is what a stereotype is.
